As the business continues to expand across Australia, we're seeking an ambitious Business Development Manager to drive growth, build strategic surgeon partnerships, and help shape the future direction of the organisation.
About the Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Sales Director, you'll lead all commercial activity within your state, taking ownership of business development, strategic account growth, and customer engagement.
You'll work closely with surgeons, procurement teams, hospital executives, and internal stakeholders to expand market share while mentoring and developing Territory Sales Managers and supporting a network of distributor partners.
As a member of the ANZ Leadership Team, you'll contribute to national commercial strategy and have genuine influence over the future growth of the business.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Territory Manager looking to step into leadership or an established Business Development Manager seeking greater influence within a growing organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Drive Commercial Growth
- Own and deliver the state's annual sales and growth objectives
- Identify and convert new business opportunities across public and private hospitals
- Increase market share and utilisation of a premium orthopaedic implant portfolio
- Develop long-term partnerships with surgeons and key hospital stakeholders
- Prepare commercial proposals, tenders, and pricing submissions
Lead & Develop People
- Coach and mentor Territory Sales Managers to maximise commercial performance
- Conduct joint customer visits and field coaching
- Develop product knowledge, commercial capability, and theatre performance
- Support and manage distributor and agent performance across the state
Strategic Leadership
- Contribute to ANZ commercial planning as part of the Senior Leadership Team
- Provide market intelligence, forecasting, and strategic insights
- Collaborate with global colleagues on product strategy and business improvement initiatives
- Partner with Operations, Clinical Education, and Customer Service to deliver an exceptional customer experience
Customer Engagement
- Build trusted relationships with surgeons, theatre teams, procurement, and hospital executives
- Provide clinical support during key procedures where required
- Deliver educational programs and support the successful introduction of new technologies
About You
You'll be a commercially driven leader who enjoys winning new business, building strong customer relationships, and helping others succeed.
You'll ideally bring:
- Proven success within orthopaedic or medical device sales
- Strong commercial acumen and experience managing a high-performing territory
- Experience coaching or mentoring sales professionals
- Excellent presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Strong understanding of orthopaedic implant systems and the hospital environment
- Experience with CRM systems and sales forecasting
- Existing relationships within the Australian orthopaedic market highly regarded
- Experience working with distributors or agents will be advantageous
