Job Description
Position Overview
The Sales Associate supports the growth of our clients surgical device portfolio across VIC hospitals and surgical facilities. Working alongside Senior Territory Managers, you'll build relationships with surgeons, theatre staff, and procurement teams, provide in-theatre product support, and help drive adoption of our clients Endoscopic and Surgical Stapling technologies.
This is a development role designed to launch a career in Medical Device sales. You'll learn the clinical, technical, and commercial sides of the business from experienced mentors, with a structured pathway toward owning your own territory. It suits someone early in their career who wants to build deep expertise in a specialised, high-growth corner of the surgical device market rather than sell a broad, generic catalogue.
Key Responsibilities
Required Skills, Behaviours and Competencies
Ideal Candidate Attributes
Drive and resilience. Self-motivated, comfortable with rejection, and persistent in pursuing goals. Medical device sales has long cycles and high standards.
Coachability. Eager to learn, receptive to feedback, and quick to absorb clinical and technical knowledge. This matters more than existing sales polish at entry level.
Clinical credibility. Able to hold their own in a theatre environment, speak the language of surgeons and nurses, and remain calm and professional under pressure during live cases.
Relationship builder. Genuinely personable, trustworthy, and skilled at earning the confidence of demanding, time-poor clinicians.
Comfort in a clinical setting. Not squeamish around surgery; able to gown up and stand in theatre for extended periods.
Attention to detail. Reliable with inventory, documentation, and CRM hygiene — the unglamorous work that underpins strong territory management.
Integrity and compliance mindset. Understands that trust and ethical conduct, including MTAA Code obligations, are non-negotiable in this industry.
Commercial curiosity. Interested in the business behind the sale — account economics, procurement dynamics, and where opportunities sit.
Adaptability. Handles a fluid schedule, last-minute case requests, and early-morning theatre starts without losing composure.
